1. POKO KE MANG? (Who is poetry?)
Poko ke mogale wa maloba segatlhamela masisi monna wa pelo ya tau
Tau motlhola-a-kgotshe moilagokgotlhwa tshetlha ya dipoa
Poetry is the past the present and the future
The son of History husband to this point in time and father to the prophecy
He is the creator of the uncreatable… creator of Umkhulwani, the sangoma of words with wings of wind
The king of rhythm the master of rhymes and the GOD of lines
He is that same guy right there who walks through your pantry in pink panties down the streets to sit next to Cedric Patrick and Hendrick under the porntree
His lips and moustache are flames of questions to every answer and answers to ever question
Heart painted in white blood that bares witness to his reflection of perfection
His hands are an architect I have heard he helped Da Vinci in drawing Mona Lisa
He has flown with time he was seen on the lips of Julius Ceasar
He turns ice into fire, fire into water and water into dust
A rose and a thorn he rides the sun from dawn and commands an army of stars from dusk
And still you… you and you remain asking, who the hell is poetry?
Ke mmina sathoma le segola, motlhathlela bojale le moalosa bogwera bogwera
Ke mmina gotlhe maanagotlhe mothuba koma le yoo thee ka meduduetsane
You see today I may be gay
Maybe I may be gay because yesterday he made love to me
He tasted of steel and smelled of power
He is the one who slept with the pastor’s wife and made love to the prostitute at the same time
That is why he got engaged to the Kebra Nagast, he married the Holy Kuran and got divorced to the Holy Bible
He is the Platinum mines of Rustenburg down to the place of the skull Taung and right there along the Drankersberg Mountains an embodiment of Liberty and the Egyptian Pharaoh himself
He is the Beat of the East who rules rhythm of the streets the Clan of the West who shares ranks of the swamps the Pound of the South who rounds sounds of all crowds and the Gong of the North who controls Lords of raw war
And you still have the gore… the audacity to ask who poetry is
Ke mogakgamola e kgakgautha jaaka kgwanyape e gagola jaaka kgagaripa ya dikgwa e kgorometsa dikgang jaaka Kgafela wa Magogodi a a kgatlha kgosi ya bakgatlha ba kgafela e kgaleme e sa kgalege jaaka Kgalema Motlanthe
A jaanong o setse o botsa gore poko ke mang
Believe you me he is the one who was sitting next to Rholihlhla Madiba Mandela at prison
The one who was next to Umsholozi in the curt of law and still in the pencil of Zapiro when he sketched sketch after sketch
The one who was next to Malcom X, Martin Luther King and still in Obama’s words
And he was the one who roared nthe speech of Steven Bantubonke Biko
And believe me… he was there like inja ka sathani during the 1976 struggle
I heard him crying louder and louder, fuck off die polisie kar
Dan die vraag het uit gekom…
…. Wie is poisie?
2. AND THEN THEY WERE THREE
Dedicated to Pitika Ntuli, Don Mattera and Kgafela oa Magogodi
Spear headed poetic revolution with rhythm of unspeakable creativity
Highlighted an era that shall forever be echoed in the bass of incomparable quality
Giants majestic and poetic royal in their blood flows the unspoken word
And their eyes have sighted greenest pastures of the artistic world
Specifications cannot begin to highlight flaws in words they spit
Pinpointing tinted dots is as hard as

4. MORE THAN A ROCK
A poem dedicated to all the mothers
OKAY!
Listen to this…absolute silence!
Break the glass and hear exploding echoes of uttering chaos
Remove the mucus and see reality at life’s edge of catastrophe
Thunders blasting tears falling heart bleeding
Summer heats and winter colds a nightmare
Stormy seasons and windy weather a living hell
Upon a woman who lives with three offsprings
Her hut holed on top cracked on walls and soiled on the floor
She wakes up at four to move the world
Two of her children go to school with handful of stomach filler
She rides the wind a baby sleeping on the back destiny fields of millies miles away
Returns a t dusk to feed three hungry stomachs
As their tiny innocent eyes close
Tears stream down her check and deep inside nature only knows
Amid the terrible magazine her breathtaking love is unsurpassed
Till death do them apart……she shall forever remain their force of protection…
…a mother

Morning I dearly greet you today
Allow me to say happy birthday
May the angels of peace be with you all day
Mighty powers of smiles cover your face this day
Pay no attention to the ignorants
Ignorance is a force that make you an immigrant
Cost of everything may go lower for you i wish
On this very day of yours you should be rich
Yours should be an almighty sword of happiness
Allow no invaders to make you feel worthless
God be with you through the valley of smiles
Age be not what you add but what you like
Every birthday i shall be here to say the least
